POSITION SUMMARY
The House Manager supervises all front-of-house operations for all Mainstage (763-seat house) and Studio Theatre (125-seat house) performances, as well as for the Imaginary Theatre Company public performances and other events. The House Manager reports to the General Manager.
The House Manager supervises one to two Assistant House Managers. Together, the House Management team oversees 5 to 8 performances per week at The Rep, ensuring patron satisfaction and safety. While the majority of performances are in the evening and on weekends, some are weekday matinees and, therefore, weekday availability is required.
The House Management position is full-time, seasonal, with continuous employment between mid-August and April.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
ADMINISTRATION OF SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES (50%)

Supervises, manages, schedules, and directs activities of the Front of House team.

Hires, trains, schedules, and supervises paid Front of House staff, concessions workers, parking attendants, volunteers, and work study students

Review and approve time sheets for two different payroll systems (one for work-study students, one for all other employees) on a weekly basis.

Participates in front-of-house meetings with leadership and department heads prior to each production.

Work with multiple department heads on front-of-house requests/needs for various department programs and campaigns.

Sets up and breaks down house management office at the beginning and end of each season.

Manages house management office supplies and forms.

Assist in Box Office as needed.
PERFORMANCE/EVENT RESPONSIBILITIES (50%)

Ensure patron satisfaction and courteous service; resolve problems and issues as they arise.

Monitor Front of House operations and personnel to ensure high standards are maintained in all patron interactions.

Ensure that all public areas are kept neat and clean and clear of obstructions, reporting maintenance or safety issues to building management.

Assign ushers and parking attendants to specific positions and supervise teams during scheduled shift/performance.

Oversee seating of patrons and coordinate with the Box Office to resolve any seating issues that may arise.

Assist patrons with various accessibility needs.

Maintain communication with the Stage Manager to coordinate the start time of performance and after intermission.

Communicate with Housekeeping/Facilities to ensure patron needs are met.

Ensure cash from parking and any other miscellaneous revenue streams get turned into Box Office.

Follow emergency procedures and assist in medical emergencies when necessary.

Assist Concessions workers to ensure timely intermission and pre-show service.

Other duties as assigned.
ESSENTIAL KNOWLEDGE AND QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum of 2-3 years of house management experience and/or experience managing and training staff

Proficiency with the Microsoft Office suite

Exceptional communication skills

Ability to stand for long periods of time

Ability to comfortably lift and carry up to 25 pounds

ENVIRONMENT
This position requires the ability to stand and walk for several hours at a time. The work environment is an air-conditioned, smoke-free, office environment when not in performances, and a busy performing arts center when shows are running. This position routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets, and fax machines. This position may require local, day travel. Working hours are generally during the evening, but will vary depending on company needs.
