POSITION SUMMARY
The Repertory Theatre of St. Louis (The Rep), now approaching its 60th Anniversary Season, is one of the leading regional theatres in the country, producing mainstage and studio work of the highest caliber while serving tens of thousands of audience members annually across the St. Louis region. Through its mainstage productions, Steve Woolf Studio Series, and extensive education and community programs, The Rep is committed to creating meaningful theatre experiences that reflect, engage, and inspire our community.
The Business Assistant plays a key role in the day-to-day financial operations of The Rep, ensuring accuracy and consistency across cash receipts, deposits, and credit card transactions. Working across departments, including the Box Office and Development, this role supports core accounting functions such as accounts payable, payroll administration, and reconciliation, while also providing essential administrative support. This position is critical to maintaining the integrity of financial processes and supporting the organization’s overall operational effectiveness.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Manage and process cash receipts across departments, including Box Office and Development, ensuring accurate recording, reconciliation, and timely deposits
- Reconcile daily transactions, including credit card activity and bank reports, maintaining accuracy across accounting systems
- Support accounts payable by entering invoices, verifying payments, and coordinating vendor transactions
- Assist with payroll administration, including employee setup, data tracking, and weekly processing support
- Maintain organized and accurate financial records, supporting reporting, audits, and compliance requirements
- Prepare and transport bank deposits in accordance with established procedures and security standards
- Generate and review routine financial and payroll-related reports for accuracy and completeness
- Provide administrative support to the team, including onboarding assistance and document management
QUALIFICATIONS
- 2 to 5 years of relevant accounting or finance experience
- Working knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles and standard financial practices
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office, with an emphasis on Excel
- Highly organized with strong attention to detail and follow-through
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
- Proactive, adaptable, and comfortable working both independently and as part of a team
- Clear and professional communication skills, both written and verbal
- High level of discretion and integrity when handling financial information
