LIFELONG LEARNER MATINEES

At The Rep, we are pleased to provide matinee performances of selected Mainstage productions to students and senior groups.   

More than 3,000 intergenerational learners attend Lifelong Learner Matinees at The Rep each season. These matinees are typically designed for 6th grade students and older, but we welcome learners of all ages, encouraging a diverse audience that includes all those who value continuing education through the arts.

DIAL “M” FOR MURDER

October 3rd

10:00 AM

Step into the shadows of a meticulously planned murder. In the elegant home of Tony and Margot Wendice, a sinister game of cat and mouse unfolds. Tony, a calculating mastermind, plots to kill his wife for her inheritance, fueled by revenge and greed. When his perfect plan spirals into chaos, a web of lies and deceit is spun, threatening to ensnare the innocent. Join the relentless Inspector Hubbard as he unravels the twisted truth. Will Tony’s trap hold, or will justice be served?

CONTENT TRANSPARENCY: This play contains discussion of murder/death, depiction of alcohol and smoking, depiction of physical violence and blood, mention of drugs, mild adult language and themes.

GRADE RECOMMENDATION: 6th and up

MILLION DOLLAR QUARTET CHRISTMAS

December 12th

10:00 AM

ARE YOU READY TO ROCK? Around the Christmas tree, that is! Million Dollar Quartet Christmas brings Elvis Presley, Johnny Cash, Jerry Lee Lewis, and Carl Perkins back together for a festive jam session that will have you jingling ALL the way! In the decked-out Sun Records studio, filled to the brim with Christmas cheer and enough musical talent to power a city grid, these legendary musicians blend their chart-topping hits with seasonal cheer. Get ready for a holly jolly journey through this iconic rock n’ roll musical! 

CONTENT TRANSPARENCY: This play contains mention of drinking and smoking, slight adult language and humor

CLYDE’S

February 13th

10:00 AM

From two-time Pulitzer Prize winner Lynn Nottage comes the Tony-nominated-play, Clyde’s. In a small run-down sandwich joint, ex-cons endure Clyde’s fiery critiques and a scorching kitchen. Yet, when a mystic chef throws down the gauntlet—craft the ultimate sandwich—the team ignites with newfound zeal. Fueled by this savory challenge, they transform their past into a recipe for triumphant fresh starts.  

CONTENT TRANSPARENCY: This play contains strong adult language, discussion of mature themes (abuse, drug/alcohol addiction, violence, sex, and illegal activities), racist/white supremacist imagery.

GRADE RECOMMENDATION: 11th and up

KEN LUDWIG’S SHERWOOD: THE ADVENTURES OF ROBIN HOOD

March 27th and April 3rd

10:00 AM

Join the Merry Rebellion! Ken Ludwig’s Sherwood: The Adventures of Robin Hood is a riotous romp through the enchanted forest, where Robin and his lively band of outlaws plot to outwit a greedy prince. Filled with daring escapades, mischievous humor, and a dash of romance, this timeless tale of justice and camaraderie is a swashbuckling adventure the whole family will cheer for!

CONTENT TRANSPARENCY: This play contains depictions of violence and fighting, mention of death/murder, suggestive/sexual situations and language, and depiction of drinking.

GRADE RECOMMENDATION: 7th and up

LIFELONG LEARNER MATINEE FAQs

WHAT TIME SHOULD I PLAN TO ARRIVE?

Please plan to arrive 30 - 40 minutes before the scheduled curtain time of the mainstage performance. 

HOW DO I GET TO THE REP?

Please share with the bus driver and others planning to drive to the performance.

WHERE SHOULD I PARK?

The Rep cannot accommodate motor coach and bus parking on site. Motor coaches and buses should arrive early to drop off students, at which time drivers will be given directions for parking and pick-up procedures. Please note that bus and motor coach parking is not within walking distance of The Rep, so if your bus driver is planning to see the show, you will need to make other arrangements.

Groups that are driving themselves or carpooling will need to park in the Garden Park Plaza Parking Garage located on Garden Avenue down the street from the theatre. You will be issued a parking pass two weeks before the performance, which should be placed on your dashboard after parking. 

WHERE DO I GO WHEN I ARRIVE?

The check-in will be located in the lobby next to the circle drive doors off Edgar Road.

HOW WILL I GET MY TICKETS?

We do not issue tickets for student matinee performances. Your group will be assigned specific seats in the theatre based on your reservation. When you arrive, an usher will escort you to your assigned seats.

DO YOU SELL FOOD OR DRINKS?

Concessions are sold at Lifelong Learner Matinee performances. To purchase items, students and/or teachers must first buy concessions tickets at the Box Office, then redeem the concessions tickets for items at the counter in the lobby. The Box Office can take payments either via cash or credit card. Purchased food items and water are allowed inside the theatre.

WHAT IF I NEED TO MAKE CHANGES TO MY RESERVATION?

To make any changes to your reservation, please email education@repstl.org. Changes in group size or cancellations must be made 30 days before the performance date.

WHEN AND HOW DO I PAY FOR MY SEATS?

Once you have received your invoice, credit card payments can be made by calling The Rep’s Box Office (314-968-4925). Checks or money orders should be made payable to THE REPERTORY THEATRE OF ST. LOUIS. Cash payments are not accepted.

If you are mailing payments to the box office, please include your order number, which can be found on your invoice.

HOW LONG IS THE PERFORMANCE?

Performance times vary for each show, but a show will typically run about 2 hours and 30 minutes, and include a brief intermission. Run times are sent out as soon as possible for educators to plan accordingly.

HOW SHOULD I PLAN FOR LUNCH?

Food may be consumed in the outdoor garden, weather permitting. Lunches will be stored in the theatre lobby during the performance. Shows will typically have a 15-minute intermission, which can be used for a quick snack break. Students will be directed back to their seats as quickly as possible following the intermission, so please plan food choices accordingly.
