The Story
Winner of the 1998 Olivier Award for Best Play, Patrick Marber’s critically-acclaimed Closer is a painfully funny and unflinchingly honest exposeé of modern relationships. Set in London in the mid-90’s, the play follows Alice, Dan, Larry and Anna as they meet, mate and move on, desperately searching for the partner who will rescue them from their isolation and, perhaps, even from themselves. With his deft use of language and his unnerving insight, Marber offers up a wicked dose of the human condition and reminds us of what we do for love.
