After countless hours of planning, adapting and hoping, we are absolutely thrilled to share the announcement of our 2021-22 Mainstage season!

Dreaming Zenzile Based on the life of Miriam Makeba

At her final concert, South African musical legend and activist Miriam Makeba delivers the performance of her life, raising the conscience and the consciousness of a people. But the ancestors are calling—transporting her through the music and fractured memories of her past on a spiritual journey of reconciliation. Written and performed by Grammy-nominated international music sensation Somi Kakoma, this world premiere musical is an electrifying portrait of a revolutionary artist’s singular voice and vision.

The Rep is proud to launch a new holiday tradition with our first-ever annual production of A Christmas Carol! At long last, the ghosts of Ebenezer Scrooge’s past, present and future have caught up with him. Now London’s most infamous miser must take a transformative journey as he faces the worst parts of himself and discovers unexpected redemption. Michael Wilson’s wondrous adaptation has delighted more than 1 million audience members throughout the country. The New York Times hailed it as “rousing” and “crowd-pleasing.”

The 39 Steps

Hitchcock meets hilarity in this madcap comedic thriller. Richard Hannay is an everyday bloke looking for a little more excitement in his life. But he gets more than he bargains for when he is unwittingly plunged into the world of spies, agents and espionage. Now it’s up to him, with the help of a mysterious woman, to thwart the plot of the dubious organization known as “The 39 Steps.” Don’t miss the tour de force performances as four actors take on over 150 roles in a plot packed with intrigue, international danger, old-fashioned romance, high-spirited comedy and a death-defying finale!

The Trinity River Plays

In this multi-generational trilogy, we meet aspiring young writer Iris Spears on her seventeenth birthday as she eagerly anticipates her upcoming college career and dreams of leaving Dallas for the wonders of New York City. Seventeen years later we travel home with her to confront the secrets of her past in a search for peace. Over the course of a single evening we follow Iris’ journey as she struggles to interrupt the cycle of intergenerational trauma that continues to eat away at her and her family.

House of Joy
