We are thrilled to be the first regional theatre in the country to obtain the rights to produce this remarkable play. October brings a charming new musical adaptation of Jane Austen’s Emma, from the Tony Award-nominated composer of Broadway’s Jane Eyre, Paul Gordon. For the holiday season, we present This Wonderful Life, bringing the entire town of Bedford Falls to life on stage through the immense talents of just one actor.

In January, it’s George Bernard Shaw’s epic Saint Joan, the story of a young girl who hears divine voices leading her into war with both the church and governments and, ultimately, to her death. Coinciding with the 50th anniversary of its Broadway debut, in February we present the Tony Award-winning The Miracle Worker, an inspirational and profoundly moving testament to the influence of dedicated teachers. And we close the Mainstage series in March with a new adaptation of Robert Louis Stevenson’s classic tale of inner demons and evil unchecked, Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde, by Jeffrey Hatcher.

The Off-Ramp series continues in 2008 at the Grandel Theatre, offering two St. Louis premieres with extended runs. First up is Martin McDonagh’s Olivier Award-winning brutal and brutally funny The Lieutenant of Inishmore, following the exploits of a ruthless IRA enforcer as he tries to determine the fate of his beloved wee black cat. We follow that with Douglas Carter Beane’s merciless skewering of Hollywood politics and celebrity culture, The Little Dog Laughed. Both plays at Off-Ramp will have the whole town talking.

Later this summer, we’ll be announcing our Studio Theatre series, including a world premiere by a St. Louis playwright. And, of course, The Rep’s Imaginary Theatre Company returns with off-subscription public performances of two tales perfect for the family to share.

We can’t wait to share the excitement with you! Click here to learn how you can subscribe today and be a part of all the special moments to come in The Rep’s 2008–2009 season.
