Souvenir
by Stephen Temperley
Directed by Michael Evan Haney
March 11–29, 2009
Eccentric socialite Florence Foster Jenkins believed herself a naturally gifted coloratura soprano, when in fact she couldn’t sing a note in tune. But with an indomitable zest for music and with her reluctant accompanist Cosme McMoon in tow, she went from drawing room charity concerts to a sold-out Carnegie Hall concert, all the while oblivious to the audiences rolling in the aisles. A warm-hearted, uproarious and poignant true story about the ultimate musical odd couple.
