The Lieutenant of Inishmore
by Martin McDonagh
Directed by Stuart Carden
September 17–October 12, 2008
Monty Python meets Quentin Tarantino in this brazen and unapologetic, bitterly blood curdling and breathtakingly funny farce about Irish Republican Army enforcer ‘Mad Padraic’ and the one thing he loves more than anything else in the world, his little black cat. But on a lonely Inishmore island road, someone has run over Wee Thomas. Was it an accident? Padraic’s gonna want to know. Olivier Award winner for Best Comedy.
Note: May cause fits of laughter, awkward discomfort and uncontrollable urges to reveal the shocking ending. (Don’t.) Contains very adult language and situations, loud gunfire and extremely graphic scenes of violence and torture that some may find disturbing. (No cats were harmed in the creation of this play.)
 | Steve's Take: Here's a show that brings new meaning to "appallingly funny", a bloody black comedy where terrorism collides with outrageousness. It's not for the faint of heart, but you won't be able to stop talking about it. |
