COVID-19 FAQ: The Latest

Following the declaration of a state of emergency in St. Louis County surrounding the spread of coronavirus (COVID-19) in early March, The Repertory Theatre of St. Louis canceled its remaining 2019-2020 season performances and its staff began working remotely.

We know that this unprecedented moment has generated a number of questions from our patrons. Here are our answers:

What's the latest news on Dreaming Zenzile?

The Rep will not produce Dreaming Zenzile this summer, which had been our goal following the show's coronavirus-related postponement in March.

The question of mounting a show this summer ultimately came down to the health and safety of our patrons, artists and staff. Out of an abundance of caution and in compliance with local government directives, we have decided that staging Dreaming Zenzile over the summer is not possible.

What if I had tickets to Dreaming Zenzile?

We would be most grateful if you would consider converting the full value of your tickets into a tax-deductible donation to invest in our future. To help address the theatre’s immediate financial needs, including the salaries of our full-time staff in St. Louis, we have increased our fundraising goal by $500,000. Your tickets will go a long way to helping us reach this goal. In fact, if each ticketholder makes this donation we will raise nearly $475,000!

We understand this option may not be a fit for everyone, so we’re offering three additional ways for you to proceed with your tickets:

1.) If you have not already renewed a subscription for next season, we will be happy to credit this amount toward your renewal.
2.) We can convert the value of your ticket to a Rep gift card. This can be used to purchase additional tickets for next season or future seasons.
3.) You can request a refund.

If you had Dreaming Zenzile tickets, you can fill out our form here to let us know which option you'd prefer, or contact the box office at 314-968-4925.

When will The Rep reopen for performances?

First and foremost, The Rep prioritizes the safety and wellbeing of its patrons, artists and staff. We will abide by all rulings from local, state or national government entities regarding large gatherings of people.

Our current plan is to reopen in December 2020 with A Christmas Carol. Learn more here.

What new health and safety procedures will The Rep implement when it reopens?

We're currently consulting with other public arts organizations in St. Louis to construct a unified plan for bringing the arts back to the region in a way that is safe and in compliance with local, state and federal healthcare directives. This will include new safety and sanitation procedures.

Look for additional information soon on our future plans.

Is anyone at The Rep box office or administrative offices?

While The Rep's box office and administrative staff are working remotely, you can still reach them through the usual channels. Calling the box office at 314-968-4925 will direct you to a box office representative.
