Behind the Scenes

In addition to the work we do on stage, The Rep brings you many opportunities to learn about what goes on behind the scenes at the theatre. Find out who builds the sets and costumes, where actors prepare for a performance, and even how you can incorporate theatre into your life by checking out one of these special programs.

Backstage Tours

Please Note: Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, in-person backstage tours are currently unavailable. In the meantime, we are excited to launch a virtual offering to educators and patrons, coming soon!

Groups may tour The Rep’s performance spaces free of charge. A tour guide leads groups behind the scenes to explore the many components of live performance, see how the magic is created and discover the range of careers in the performing arts. Tours include the Browning Mainstage, Emerson Studio, scenic construction shop, paint space, costume and props shops, dressing rooms, greenrooms, and more.
